Who we are
Rǽdend ("the app") is an Android app published on Google Play by Liberty Apps, USA, under the Ordstirr name. It reads QR codes and barcodes with your camera and shows what they contain, including any link, before anything is opened. If you have a question about this policy, email [email protected].
The short version
The app does not collect, send, sell or share any of your information. It has no internet permission, so it cannot connect to the internet, to our computers or to any cloud service. Everything stays on your phone. We, the developer, never receive or see anything about you or your phone.
What the app reads, only on your phone
Camera. The camera is used only while the scanner is open, to read codes. Camera pictures are decoded on the phone and thrown away; no photos or videos are saved or sent anywhere.
Links. The app never opens a link by itself. Its link warnings are worked out on the phone from the text of the link; the app does not look the link up online. A link opens in your browser only after you confirm.
What the app keeps on your phone
The app saves only the following, in its private storage that other apps cannot open: your settings, the scan history if you switch history on (it is off unless you turn it on, and you can clear it at any time), the free-trial start date, and whether the full version has been unlocked. QR codes you make are saved or shared only where you choose.
What we collect
Nothing. There is no account and no sign-in. The app contains no advertising, no analytics, no crash reporting and no tracking. Apart from Google's Play Billing Library, which lets the app talk to the Google Play Store app on your phone about the purchase, it contains no third-party code that handles your information. It does not use the Android advertising ID.
In-app purchase
The app is free to try. After the free trial, a one-time in-app purchase (US$1.99, or the local price Google Play shows you) unlocks scan history and the QR maker; scanning, link warnings, copy and share stay free. There is no subscription. The purchase is made and paid for through Google Play, under your Google account and Google's own terms and privacy policy. Google processes the payment. We do not receive your payment card details, your name, your email address or any other personal information from Google.
To check whether you have bought the unlock (including Restore purchase), the app asks the Google Play Store app on your phone, and saves only the unlock status on your phone.
Phone permissions
- Camera (CAMERA): to read codes while the scanner is open.
- Google Play billing (com.android.vending.BILLING): for the one-time unlock.
- An internal permission that only this app can use, added by Android's support library so the app's own parts can talk to each other safely. It gives no access to your information.
The app has no internet permission.
No guarantee
Link warnings are a guide to help you decide, not a guarantee that a link is safe.
Links
The About screen has links to our website, ordstirr.com, and to our other apps. A link only opens if you tap it, in your phone's own browser or the Google Play Store app, outside this app. Links carry no tracking codes. Websites you visit are covered by their own privacy policies.
How long information is kept, and how to delete it
Everything the app stores stays on your phone until you clear the app's data or uninstall the app, which erases it. Your purchase stays on your Google Play account, so you can restore it after reinstalling. Because we never receive your information, we have nothing to look up, hand over or delete for you.
Children
The app is a general-audience tool and is not directed at children. It does not collect information from anyone, including children.
Google Play
The app is downloaded, and the unlock is bought, through Google Play. Google handles your Play Store account, downloads and payments under Google's own privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy).
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version at this same web address and update the date at the top. If the app ever starts collecting any information, this policy and the app's Google Play listing will be updated before that version is released.
