Simple apps. Your data. Your choice.

Our mission

We build simple, low-cost apps that respect your privacy. We collect only what we must, which is usually nothing. Every app is built to be as secure as we can make it, and you decide how much of that security to turn on. Your data stays yours, on your device.

About us

Orðstírr is a small app maker. We make small, simple apps that do one job well and cost little. There are no ads and no tracking in our apps. They are built offline-first, so they keep working without a connection and keep your records on your phone rather than on our servers. We build them to run on older phones too, back to Android 5.0, because a good app should not need a new phone.

Each app has one fair price, with no subscriptions to chase. We would rather earn your trust slowly than spend it quickly.

Our motto

Deyr fé, deyja frændr, deyr sjálfr it sama; en orðstírr deyr aldregi, hveim er sér góðan getr.

Cattle die, kinsmen die, you yourself die the same; but a good name never dies for the one who earns it.

Hávamál, stanza 76

Our name comes from the word orðstírr in this verse. In Old Norse it means “fame, good reputation”. Wealth and everything else pass away; a good name earned by honest dealing lasts. That is why reputation matters most to us.
